It’s Wednesday afternoon. You’re walking to your car in the parking garage at work, you start it up, and the dash says: “Service due in 500 miles.” No details. No price. Just a countdown. You have no idea if that means a $300 oil change or a $3,000 visit. Here’s how to know before you call.
Porsche builds its maintenance schedule around time and mileage, whichever comes first. The exact intervals depend on your model and year, so your owner’s manual is always the final word. But most modern Porsches follow a similar rhythm.
The typical rhythm
- Every year or so: Oil and filter change, plus a general inspection. Porsche’s standard interval for many recent models is once a year or around 10,000 miles.
- Every 2 years: Brake fluid replacement. Brake fluid absorbs moisture over time, even if you barely drive.
- Every few years or tens of thousands of miles: Air filter, cabin filter, spark plugs, and drive belts, depending on your model.
- Longer intervals: Transmission fluid (PDK or manual), coolant, and other major items. These vary a lot by model, so check your schedule.

Why Las Vegas changes the math
Porsche’s schedule assumes average conditions. Las Vegas isn’t average. Extreme heat, fine desert dust, and short stop-and-go trips all count as harder service. That can mean:
- Oil changes sooner. Heat and short trips are tough on oil, and fresh oil is cheap compared to engine wear.
- Air and cabin filters sooner. Desert dust clogs them faster than the schedule expects.
- More frequent tire and battery checks. Heat ages both faster.
Time matters as much as miles
A Porsche that’s driven 2,000 miles a year still needs service on time. Oil breaks down, brake fluid absorbs moisture, and rubber parts age whether the car moves or not. Low mileage isn’t a reason to skip a year.
Keep the paperwork
A complete service history is one of the biggest factors in what your Porsche is worth when you sell it. Keep every receipt, or let your shop keep a full record for you.
